Perfect pairing

Work seamlessly with the zed bindings. Wonderful system for backcountry or general ski use. Would highly recommend. Based on past reviews seems like the new model has fixed past issues.

Zed binding

I switched from the Ion binding after years of usage guiding and skiing for myself to the Zed. Have been using them for around 3 winters now. Flawless performance, light weight but not too light and flimsy. Nice and low to the ski which is very important to me for stability and control with wider skis.
Love the Zed, have 5 prs mounted up.

ZED Binding Brakes

Difficult to install and failed twice on first tour

The brake installed easily onto the turret mounting. The plastic spring cover would not go in under the brake foot plate. It had to be deformed and shoved forcefully many times until it fit underneath. The plastic spring cover clicked into the metal forks on the brake but it was easy to knock back off. The whole brake assembly is loose and rattles around.

On the first tour, the plastic spring cover came out twice on transitions. Luckily there was not powder snow for it to get lost in! The brake also would not lock up twice. I had to manually pull the legs up over the ski to get the walk mode to engage.

My Ion bindings are rigid and never fail. I am very dissappointed with the zed bindings and would not have purchased them if I had known that the brake assembly was of such poo quality.
