One of the most common issues backcountry skiers face is struggling to get their boot toes into their tech pins. In this video, G3 Athlete and ACMG Guide Ginny White talks to us about how to fix this if snow and ice get jammed under the springs while you walk uphill.
Steps to Clear Ice from Your Bindings:
Push and Release: Push and release the toe piece a few times before clipping in. This clears out ice and ensures the springs can lock securely.
Use the Alignment Plate: Utilize the binding's alignment plate to guide your boot into the pins.
The Boot Swing: Once your toe is in the pins, swing your boot back and forth a couple of times. This clears any residual snow packed into the toe fittings of your boot, ensuring a solid connection for the descent.
