FOR ANY LOCATION AND ALL CONDITIONS

For any location and all conditions. Universal nylon plush material for durability and versatility. Optimal balance of grip/glide/weight/durability.

The stiff material of the ALPINIST+ tip creates a rigid platform that keeps snow from creeping under the skin and extends the use of your adhesive.

New tip connector with extended TPU tip and self-aligning stainless-steel hands give a secure, lightweight connection and superior glide while trailbreaking. G3's low profile, elongated tail strap makes transitions fast and easy.

The refined camming clip stays positioned on the ski, reduces wear and allows for easy adjustments. Removable rip strip reduces skin-to-skin adhesion, making it easier to pull apart skins. If your glue gets contaminated on an epic traverse, you can remove the strip for extra adhesion.

  • Low profile, elongated tail strap makes transitions fast and easy
  • Refined camming clip stays positioned on the tail for easy adjustments
  • Removable rip strip
  • Trim tool and skin savers included
  • Premium plush: Proprietary lightweight, fast and durable nylon plush
  • Updated non-toxic adhesive
  • PFC-free waterproofing treatment
  • Adhesive withstands extreme cold down to -30C/-22F
  • Proudly designed, tested and manufactured in BC, Canada
  • Recycled and recyclable storage bag and box

If you’re going to move around a fair bit, the ALPINIST+ UNIVERSAL skin is going to suit your needs. Warm, cold, dry, wet - it doesn’t matter. It’s going to work for you in every single place you go.

As advertised

Nice skin. I have used them in multiple conditions, powder to ice, and they are a good all around skin that can handle all.

Not the quality they once were

I bought a new set of these skins for my backcountry powder setup. When purchased the large plastic powder bail was placed bent in the box they came in. The ridged plastic keeps its memory when placed on the ski which shovels snow down and under the skin rendering it useless. I have been a long time user of G3 and have been using their previous skins for over 10 years. I feel there is little care and effort taken by G3 now and the product quality has significantly gone down hill. I hope they can get their act together. I would love to support a Canadian company, however their current products are not giving me hope.

Hi Alexis, thanks for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your skins arrived with a bend in the plastic. If you haven't already, you can submit a Warranty claim here: https://genuineguidegear.com/pages/warranty and we can review the issue with you. All G3 products are warranted to be free of defects in material or workmanship for one (1) year from the purchase date.

Seems easy to use

This is the first skin I have purchased but having said that the link to the instructional video was clear and the trimming tool worked as expected. The skins seem relatively easy to pin on and take off, again not having done this before. Overall seems like a quality product

Seem great so far, cutting was very easy and intuitive. Look forward to skiing once the snow hits on the island!

A good skin

A good skin. I've used it in northern Sweden as well as the "wet" coast of BC. Overall I'm happy with it.

Not the quality they once were

Also to add to previous review. I purchased my skins directly from G3 and were mailed to me. Not only were the skins damaged in the box( power bail bent) they did not come with skin savers or a skin cutting tool.

Hi Alexis, we're sorry to hear that you were missing the Skin Savers and Trim Tool that come with the ALPINIST+ Skins. If you haven't already, please reach out to us at service@genuineguidegear.com and we can look into this for you.

Not sure about plastic at tip

My 5th set of skins, 4 of which G3. Powder tour x 1 week with these ones…agree with other comments that the plastic part at the tip without adhesive can facilitate an entry point for snow. A bit bulky to fold up. Otherwise functioned well. Looking for another set for different skis and will not buy these again.

First time tourer

From a design perspective, a well made product.

First time going touring, did some simple laps on Seymour. Snow was packed and slippery in 0 deg weather but the skins worked really well.

Mounted them on Rossi Soul 7s which require the 145 medium skin but then require trimming the TPU tip a bit.
Setup was easy but using the trim tool on the TPU tip dulled the blade a bit leaving a less-than-smooth edge to the skin trim.

Recommend cutting the TPU (if needed) with scissors or a different blade than the trim tool.

A friend got the Alpinist minimal version which setup really easy and had same performance. Not entirely sure on the benefit of the extended TPU piece.

Don’t like this

Compared to the previous G3 skins I used this one is a step back. The hooks at the front are worse than they used to be and tend to slide off if one is not extremely careful when putting skins on. The glue is also not and I had issues both in very cold and warm and wet conditions

Great Skins

These are solid, dependable skins. As the name says they work pretty darn well in all conditions. We've had a real mix this winter and while they didn't particularly stand out in any one condition I also cant complain about their performance at all. As someone who isn't interested in owning a quiver of skins this is exactly what I'm after. I'm still not 100% solid on the plastic bit up front and find it kind of awkward for storing the skins but I haven't put a ton of days on them yet so I'm thinking that may change.

Usual quality

Good skins, easy to trim with included tool. Clip system works well. Not sure about the large plastic rigid thing at the front. Works well under the ski, but a bit of a hassle to fold the skins for storage. Tried (twice) the love glove, nice but expensive gadget. The storage bag seems a bit on the smaller sizing.

Impressive waterproofing

'-G3BetaTeam-
I've had various G3 skins over the years and have seen my share of issues - I've had glue completely fail on me, snow clumping and icing to drive you nuts, and snow creep at the tips preventing skins from sticking properly. With all that said I used these skis for a winter, including month long spring traverse in harsh Purcell conditions, and they impressed. On that trip, BD, coltex, and older G3 skins regularly had clumping issues, these almost never did. The glue held up surprising well. The plastic tips are not my favorite, but they generally kept the snow out. Overall quite happy with these.

Please adjust the tail strap as snug as possible to the ski.
