GO LIGHTER. GO FURTHER. GO HARD.
Starting with the proven platform of the ION, we looked at every part, every mechanism, and every screw to evolve the idea of a fully-featured binding at the lightest weight possible. With the ZED we set out to define the next generation of lightweight high-performance touring bindings.
Anti-snowpacking features built into the toe and brake designs keep snow away and make for a confidence-inspiring step-in. Optimal toe elasticity for maximum energy absorption & minimized prerelease. Wide freeride mount transfers power to the ski & provides pull-out resistance. The wide center support of the turret and a metal wrap-around base transfer power and precision to the ski. Leashes and Brakes are sold separately.

Out of the box, they are fantastic to use. Great toe, good weight and safety features. They ski well. I loved them.
However- 2 years of casual use, the binding heel moves a little too much when going up hill. It probably slides back at least a CM in travel with every step.
After some back and forth G3 sent me a new set of towers even though I was out of warranty and apparently the new ones have fixed the problem. Hopefully the new ones last longer because I really liked them.
Hi Scott, Thank you for your feedback. The binding heel movement is a function of the heel lift design to exert force backwards instead of down into the ski. We do our best to support customers with a 1- year warranty as well as the ability to purchase parts so that they don't need to replace the entire binding if its outside the warranty window. We're sorry that we didn't meet your expectations for your ZED 12's.
I ski the brakeless ZED 12s (version 2 with revised heel), and I love them. They are light, durable so far and ski really well, good power transmission. A bit too much plastic for my taste, but we'll see after 5+ years. I've had friends with brake failures on these, but I go with a leash in the backcountry so can't comment on the G3 brakes. Excellent tech binding IMO with great weight to strenght ratio.
My Zed 12 developed play in toe piece. In lock skin mode boot pops out. Tried contacting g3, no luck.
They don't respond to any inquiry.

I am having trouble getting the pins in the holes in my boots, which are new for me too
