The Norwegians really like the AviTECH shovel.




Fri Flyt is the leading Norwegian ski magazine. In their January 2007 issue Fri Flyt took 14 shovels into the mountains and dug in all sorts of snow, from light new snow to saturated, icy snow masses. They weighed and measured, flexed and bent. This is the result:

The editors summed up the essential criteria to be considered for a shovel-purchase: material, length of shaft, shape of blade, strength, and of course, price.  As they said “the snow shovel you put in the backpack ought to be designed and dimensioned to manage demanding digging work.”

In awarding the AviTECH shovel the top spot in their shovel test, Fri Flyt’s jury praised its’ various qualities:
"This shovel manages to combine many qualities. A good length gives a fine work position. The angle of the blade breaks the clumps effectively and it eats itself downward with furious speed. G3 has chosen a bit heavier material in the blade, resulting in a stiff and solid shovel, justifying the extra grams."
Why are there so many probes?

When G3 began over 12 years ago it was with a single product - an innovative and technical avalanche probe.  We now offer 9 avalanche probes - each probe has a raison d’etre. Our Speed Probe series features probes in lengths of 200, 230, 240 and 320cm. Choose your probe based on your snowpack. The 200 and 240 probes are also more appropriate for a smaller daypack. If measuring snow depth or your snow pit is important then you might want to choose the Speed Pro TECH probes. In lengths of 240 and 320cm the TECH probes feature laser etched markings every 5mm.

G3 also makes probes designed for industrial applications, ski patrol and SAR response teams. The 240 Industrial AND 240 Industrial TECH probes are bigger, heavier, stronger and provide faultless snow penetration. Rounding out the line and designed for SAR teams, the 350 Solid Probe is over-built for maximum strength.
