The Norwegians really like the AviTECH shovel. |

Fri Flyt is the leading Norwegian ski magazine. In their January 2007 issue Fri Flyt took 14 shovels into the mountains and dug in all sorts of snow, from light new snow to saturated, icy snow masses. They weighed and measured, flexed and bent. This is the result:
Test Winner - G3 AviTECH Shovel
The editors summed up the essential criteria to be considered for a shovel-purchase: material, length of shaft, shape of blade, strength, and of course, price. As they said “the snow shovel you put in the backpack ought to be designed and dimensioned to manage demanding digging work.”
In awarding the AviTECH shovel the top spot in their shovel test, Fri Flyt’s jury praised its’ various qualities:
"This shovel manages to combine many qualities. A good length gives a fine work position. The angle of the blade breaks the clumps effectively and it eats itself downward with furious speed. G3 has chosen a bit heavier material in the blade, resulting in a stiff and solid shovel, justifying the extra grams."

The Mayor Walks Through Fire with El Hombre |
|
Walking through fire is not a requirement of G3 athletes. We are happy to have our skiers and guides, some of the best in the industry, spend most of their time on snow. Meet the G3 Athlete Team here.
Alan Berholtz is one guy that we are very excited to work with. An outstanding guide, avalanche forecaster and Mayor of Crested Butte Alan brings a sense of fun to life in the mountains. Being Mayor can be a demanding job, which is why we sent El Hombre to watch Alan's back. Who is El Hombre? Here is a special sneak preview for readers of the G3 newsletter. El Hombre is a new ski from G3, available for winter 07/08. You'll be hearing a lot about the big and nimble, powerful and quick El Hombre in the upcoming year. How does it ski? Let Alan tell you:
"As a backcountry ski guide, an avalanche forecaster and an avid backcountry skier I want to make sure when I enter the ring that my partner's got my back and that's why I ski with El Hombre. I never thought I needed a really fat ski because I love to go quickly from edge to edge and I always believed that over 100mm under foot was going to be slow. I didn't take into account the man from south of the border. I have found that no matter what the conditions El Hombre is quick and agile and you can really stomp on it. Whether you are ripping wide open turns in alpine terrain, cutting through the crust, boosting some cliff or just letting loose in some creamy powder you can always count on the man stepping up and getting you through it. El Hombre is the ultimate partner to have in your corner." To ski with Alan visit: www.crestedbutteguides.com
